ECMO Training Course
Understanding ECMO has never been more important
Centers that have well-established ECMO programs in place have better patient outcomes. We believe that knowledge and understanding are key to ensuring the highest level of care for patients. Our purpose is to develop a framework for understanding the care of critically ill patients who may need ECMO and to enable learners to develop a systematic approach that will ultimately improve the care of their patients.
ECMO stands for Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation. Extracorporeal is defined as "outside of the body" and a membrane oxygenator is a piece of equipment that acts as a lung to deliver oxygen into the patient's blood. ECMO is a modified heart-lung machine that does the work of the heart and lungs allowing the organs to rest.
This training is for those interested in managing patients requiring ECMO therapy in the acute care setting. Extra Corporal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)Training course is an 8-hour online training course about the fundamentals of ECMO. Training participants will gain the skills and knowledge necessary for managing adult populations requiring Veno-Veno (V-V) and Veno-Arterial (V-A) ECMO.
